The game itself adds nothing new to the Sonic formula, however, failing to advance any of the core mechanics introduced in earlier 3D Sonic games by any great degree. Originally, the game was released exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS in October , but a few years later, ports for the PC and the Wii U were developed and released. What's perhaps a little surprising is that the 3DS release is generally considered to be the definitive version despite its counterparts being on more powerful consoles.
The controls are frustratingly bad regardless of the system though, which can often lead to an unpleasant experience for players. It's not bad, but it's not great either. Sonic Heroes was the first Sonic title to grace the sixth generation of consoles, with Gamecube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC releases all coming in early If nothing else, the title is impressive when it comes to the sheer number of playable protagonists, with 12 classic Sonic characters available in four different teams of three.
The graphics and the sound were top-notch for the era, although some felt that the developers may have sacrificed gameplay in their pursuit of these high levels of graphical and audio fidelity. When all's said and done though, Sonic Heroes was still a solid platformer, but with a little more tweaking, it could have been an outstanding one.
Though nowhere near as revolutionary as Super Mario 64 , Sonic's first foray into the third dimension was still a fairly successful one.
Sonic 3D Blast used an isometric perspective and pre-rendered 3D models converted into sprites to create a solid 3D title that looks great on both the Genesis and the Sega Saturn. Sadly, it would be the only Sonic game released for the latter though due to the cancellation of Sonic X-Treme. While it might not look like much when compared to modern standards, it's worth remembering that 3D video games weren't all that common back in the mid-nineties. The Genesis version, therefore, sold more than , copies alone, while the Saturn version was the second best-selling game on the system, with only NiGHTS selling more copies.
Much like in Sonic and the Black Knight , the blue blur is transported to another world, this time providing players with a chance to experience the Arabian Nights for themselves. Aesthetically speaking, at least, the developers really did nail that theme, although the game still had its fair share of problems. Despite its pleasing visuals and charming world, Sonic and the Secret Rings once again failed to deliver on the overall Sonic experience.
It also had an incredibly steep learning curve, which could make completing some levels seem like a real grind. Now your Yo-kai team can become the best in the world! As never before a video game franchise made such as an excellent transition to portable format.
Raid mode manages to take stages from the single-player campaign, and adapt them to a full-on shooter experience that requires cooperation between players. Not to mention excellent knowledge of both the maps and the arsenal. Most of them lifted straight from all other titles in the series.
While the experience is not as challenging as that of Monster Hunter, there are a lot of things that Final Fantasy Explorers does right , making it an excellent alternative spin-off in this classic JRPG series. The new 3DS version of the popular game offers a decent on-the-go experience, despite being marred by some control issues and obvious graphics downgrading. The latter is especially annoying, as the reduced draw distance makes Minecraft feel claustrophobic.
Which is the exact opposite of what the game needs to be. Still, creating worlds and crafting items is as fun as it has ever been. And the multiplayer experience has been ported over almost intact in all of its blocky glory.
Being a straight port of the Wii game, it features the same over-the-top story starring Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. Plus it offers an excellent selection of creative and challenging level designs that will put your 2D platforming skills to the test. The 3DS port of the popular sandbox game manages to capture the spirit of the original release, giving players a massive 2D world to explore and limitless crafting and adventuring possibilities. Touch screen controls also allowed the developers to streamline some features like inventory management and map access, giving players some customization options that are not found in the other versions.
The downside is that this version of the game only supports local multiplayer for up to four players. So you may end up exploring the world if you do not have any friends on hand nearby. Expanding on pretty much every feature introduced in the original, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call is a great rhythm game. It features a huge song selection that covers not only all the main entries in the series up until Final Fantasy XV, but also spin-offs and other Square-Enix games.
All songs, which can be played through with different control styles including the stylus control style, come with multiple difficulty levels. The God of gaming said you shall have no other space adventure beside Star Fox 64 3D.
Because it is bloody good! Despite being a simple on-rails 3D shooter, Star Fox 64 3D is as engaging as it was when it was released on the Nintendo This 3DS version can mostly thank the varied single-player campaign featuring air, land, and underwater sequences, and the great controls.
